re-Worded Worship
I have written some new lyrics to some popular songs. These re-Worded songs are my worship contributions. - Rick
A God With No Name
To the tune of Horse With No Name by America
On the first part of my journey, I kept looking at all my life
There were drugs and sex and booze and things, there were fights and hate and strife
The first one I met was a man with a cross, and the words he said were strange
The man was loud and his way was proud but the cross held my gaze
CHORUS:
You see I’ve lived my life for a god with no name and I know I needed more
In this life I can be led so astray and my soul’s condition was poor
After ten years on the journey of life my soul it began to bleed
After ten years of serving my self my soul it began to need
And the man with the cross who himself was lost kept telling me I have to be saved
The man was right and I found the light in the cross which held my gaze
CHORUS
I’ve gone far on the journey of life and my soul is satisfied
I’ve been rid of lust and greed and pain , I got rid of envy and pride
I found the Man on the cross Who saves the lost – He’s the Way, the Truth and the Life
He’s Jesus the Christ and He paid the price to give me eternal life
CHORUS2:
You see I live my life for the God of the Cross, He’s my Savior and my friend
In my life I had been led so astray but not any more
Apostle Man
To the tune of Piano Man by Billy Joel
It’s Pentecost, I feel alive today, the foreign crowds gather round
My friends all stand next to me we’re abuzz on Holy Ground
The Spirit speaks, I feel my knees grow weak, I’m not really sure what I said
But the message is strong and sounds like a song giving life to the spiritually dead
CHORUS:
The Spirit speaks through the apostle man, His words bring us mercy and life
Jesus is Lord and He offers us help to save us from spiritual strife
Now John over here is a friend of mine, the one who Jesus loved best
He wrote and he wrote ‘bout the Holy Ghost and he suffered many a test
He saw Jesus our Lord glorified and it nearly done him in
But he wrote what he heard and wrote what he saw
And gave us a glimpse of the end
CHORUS
Now Saul was a Pharisee’s Pharisee he killed Christians for part of his life
Till he met his Lord on a road quite far and suffered the loss of his sight
His vision came clear as his soul was cleansed and he learned what was right
Changed his name to Paul and taught the Word of the Lord for all the rest of his life
CHORUS
Day After Day
To the tune of Day after Day by Badfinger
I remember finding out about You, every day my mind is all around You
CHORUS 1:
Looking out from my lonely gloom, day after day
Heal my hurts Jesus, make it soon. I give my self to You
I remember needing You as I weep, every day I know my tears You do keep
CHORUS 2:
Looking out from my lonely gloom, day after day
Heal my hurts Jesus, make it soon. I give my love to You
I remember giving all for Your grace, now I feel Your sweet, healing embrace
CHORUS 3:
Looking out from my lonely gloom, day after day
Heal my hurts Jesus, make it soon. I give my life to You
Deadmen
To the tune of Sandman by America
Ain’t it quiet inside, my soul feels like a cavern
There’s no fire inside, it’s as cold as an igloo
Funny, I’ve been there and you have too
The Spirit’s gone now what we gonna do?
CHORUS:
‘Cause I understand we’ve been running from the man, without Him we’re just dead men
He gives us life by His Spirit and His Word, but our selves we need to abandon
Ain’t the time gone by fast, I suppose we should seek Him
Of Him we need to ask for our sins to be forgiven
Funny, I’ve been there and you have too
The Spirit’s gone now what we gonna do?
CHORUS:
I Need You
To the tune of I Need You by America
I used to bow, I used to kneel
I used to close my eyes and call Your name
But now my Lord, seems I don’t care no more
Even though You gave Your best to me
Best to me, best to me
CHORUS:
Lord, I need You but I find my mind drifts off whene’er I seek You
Guess I’ll try it all again because I need You, I can’t do it on my own
You know I need You, I need You
Now every day, I let hours slip away
Seeking ways to fulfill my desires
But still my Lord, I want to be with You
But first Lord please forgive me
Forgive me, forgive me
CHORUS:
CHORUS2:
Lord, I need You please save me from my self You know I need You
Lord help me to try again because I need You
Don’t leave me to my self Lord You know I need You
I need You, I need You
Jesus Christ
To the tune of Solitaire by Neil Diamond
There was a man, a sinful man
Who was ashamed of his condition
He heard good news and he did choose
The way of life in salvation
CHORUS:
And Jesus Christ He is the only way
He died upon the cross our sins to pay
And sinners come to Him every day
So my friend don’t delay
There was a girl, a worldly girl
Who was ashamed of her condition
She heard the Word, her eyes were blurred
By tears of her conviction
CHORUS
There was a Lamb, a spotless Lamb
The Lamb of God, the King of Heaven
He shed His blood upon the mud
So you and I could go to heaven
CHORUS
Seeking People
To the tune of Lonely People by America
This is for all the seeking people thinking that God has passed them by
Don’t give up until you drink from His saving cup and turn your eyes to Him on high
This is for all the hurting people thinking that Christ has passed them by
Don’t give up until you eat of His saving bread and feel His arms around your side
BRIDGE:
Well I have been saved
I’ve been sanctified
And I live for Christ right now
This is for all the growing people thinking the Spirit’s passed them by
Don’t give up until you feel His soothing Words
Don’t forget that His strength is yours
He’s with you for all time
Sin Man
To the tune of Tin Man by America
Sometimes late when life don’t feel too great and all the people simply point and stare
Some are quick to judge and even hate unjustly driving me into despair
CHORUS:
But God gave everything for this sin man
Things ‘bout which I didn’t, didn’t really even care
Yes God gave everything for my sins man
So that in His love I could share
BRIDGE:
So please believe in me when I say
Jesus is love, love, love, love
God’s eternal love
He came down from above, ‘bove, ‘bove, ‘bove
To save my weary soul
CHORUS
So please believe in Him
