Meet Our Staff

Senior Pastor Richard Horn
Rick has been married to Kathie for over 33 years and they have two grown daughters, Lisa and Mary. Both Rick and Kathie were raised in traditional churches. Shortly after marriage, Rick began to question his faith and began a journey studying different religions trying to get to know God and satisfy his need for answers. After taking a path which included many Christian and non-Christian faith expressions, Rick decided that Christianity was the only true faith. Rick served in volunteer ministry positions since 1984 and, after studying for the ministry at Berean University, Rick became a licensed non-denominationaly minister by Kensington Community Church in Troy, MI in 1998.
Kathie continues working in the corporate world but is familiar with the world of the stay at home mom. Rick worked for AT&T for over 31 years before retiring to follow God's call on his life to serve in pastoral ministry.
Rick and Kathie have a passion for people, especially in the area of training and growing their faith. They have a real interest in small group leadership and a passion for marriage and marriage enrichment. Kathie is quite at ease in front of a group presenting on various topics and planning many projects. Rick has a heart for people as individuals and wants to help others find their path to spritiual growth. Rick's ministry statement is, "To know God and to make Him known to others."
When not leading our church Rick is involved in his local community. He has served as the chaplain to the Sterling Heights Fire Department since 2001. He also serves first responders in the county through his volunteer work with the Macomb Emergency Response Group.
When Rick needs to unwind he likes to spend time with family and friends. He also is an amatuer musician and plays piano, woodwinds and the patience of those around him as he attempts to learn the bagpipes!

Associate Pastor Bruce Forbes
After finishing high school in college prep and music studies, Bruce went on to study at the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois. At Moody, his main course of study was in Music with a minor in Biblical Studies and Theology; while there he also toured with the Moody Concert Band.
Bruce grew up in a conservative, traditional church where he began getting involved in the music ministry while in high school as a trombonist in the church's brass ensemble and in the choir when not playing his horn, and continued in these ministries until he left that church to attend Kensington Community Church in 1991. He had also served as a Sunday School teacher for both children's weekly classes and adult elective classes that were offered periodically. Bruce served an elected term of three years on the church's Missions Administration Board, the last year as that board's chairperson.
Bruce worked in the manufacturing industry for nearly 35 years in welding, fabrication, assembly and quality control, and retired from General Motors Truck Division after a career of over 30 years there. After years of serving a corporation, Bruce became interested once more in serving the Lord in a more impactful way since he began attending Safe Harbor Christian Church on the official launch Sunday in October, 2009.
Bruce married his wife, Maggie, in September 1975, and they currently live in Royal Oak with their son, Ryan. Maggie's career has been in the field of nursing and medical office management. Bruce and Maggie share a common interest in photography and travel; Bruce also builds personal home computers, and enjoys working with digital photography.
